24: Redemption Preview
Nov 23rd, 2008 by filmbook
Jack’s back! “DAMMIT!” Just kidding. It is about time. Goram writers’ strike. The upcoming prequel to season seven of popular television program 24, called 24: Redemption, bridges “the gap between the sixth and seventh seasons of 24. Set partially in Southern Africa, Jack finds himself caught up in a military coup whilst trying to find somewhere he can ‘be at peace’. Meanwhile, in the United States, it is Inauguration Day, where Allison Taylor is being sworn in to office.” Sounds interesting, as does the synopsis from the Seventh Season of 24 (Spoilers Ahead): “The initial back story will feature Jack Bauer on trial for his actions in the pursuit of justice. Meanwhile, a major national security incident occurs when the firewall responsible for protecting America’s government computer infrastructure is breached. It will also feature the show’s first female president, Allison Taylor, played by Cherry Jones, and ex-main character Tony Almeida will be returning to the show despite his apparent death in season 5. This will be the first season to see Jack not working with CTU because it was disbanded by the U.S. government at some point after the events of Season 6.” Almeida returning is problematic logic-wise but a female president is cool. The firewall scenario sounds a bit like Die Hard 4. Let’s hope this is just an innocent coincidence.

The best part about this season (Spoiler Ahead) is that Elisha Cuthbert is going to return in a small or large role. Most Cuthbert fans have missed her presence on the show. Not the silly-ass way her character and scenarios were integrated into the fabric of the show but her charm and her beauty.

Ah you nailed it Filmbook,,, yes there will be a “device” like the one in DieHard4…
Redemption was great,,, I enjoyed the action and the message it brought to the table with the real life problem going on in that part of the world…
The 2 minute trailer for season 7 also looked pretty damn cool.
Looks like Tony is a bad guy, as Jack doesn’t seem to happy to see him…
Can’t wait for the new season!!!
I didn’t pick up on the device aspect.
“Redemption was great,,, I enjoyed the action and the message it brought to the table with the real life problem going on in that part of the world…”
I had similar feelings about Redemption. I knew the action would be good. The under-the-table arms sales was a nice touch.
No more CTU was a good idea for the show but who deals with the work load they carried out now? Homeland Security?
Minor Spoilers!!
My sources tell me that it will be some sort of device that can hack into any computer…
The entire next day/season will take place in Washington DC, and revolve heavily around the new President and the Whitehouse…
CTU has gone underground so to speak… However CTU headquarters is totally gone…
A lot of action will also revolve around the FBI offices in DC,,,as Jack basically goes to work for them, helping them track down Almeida…
The spoiler was in your first comment.
I think its bs that Almeida is being brought back after getting stabbed with lethal poison in the chest. I hope that this reversal is at least used (or exploited) to its limit.
Sorry bout that, the device isn’t exactly like the massive truck they used in DH4…
Also yeah I don’t have any concrete info on how they plan to explain Almeida, however I can give you a probable one based on what I know,,,if you want to hear it… ??
No problem.
“I can give you a probable one based on what I know,,,if you want to hear it… ??”
No thank you…for now.
Just fyi,,, the 24, Redemption, dvd is great! The bonus features are worth the price of the dvd alone,,,
I’m interested in the unrated version with the four minutes or so that was cut from the TV version.
Yeah I haven’t watched that extended cut yet, but the extras on the dvd are real good. The first 17 min of the next season are great!!!
There’s 15min of additional footage in the extended cut (btw).
What does the additional footage consist of?
Filmbook,,,
The extended cut is the theatrical version. There’s no commercial breaks and the extended footage is all in the cut,,,
There’s some new footage when Jacks going to leave before the attack on the village, and there’s some new footage of the President welcoming the new President,,,
^
There’s also some new footage at the end,,, but overall the extended cut is far better than the tv version,,,
^
If you got the cash get the 2 disc dvd. Its worth it.
If anything, I’ll watch it online or rent it.
