A RELATIVE STRANGER (2014): Independent Film Adds Four Actors

Indie film A Relative Stranger has added four new members to its cast. William Forsythe, Rhys Wakefield, Maika Monroe, and Ryan O’Nan will join James Badge Dale in the Texas-set family drama.

Directed by Kane Senes, A Relative Stranger follows a Civil War veteran (Dale) who arrives at his brother-in-law’s rural Texas home after the war.  Dale and his family become entangled in a dispute with the McCulskey family. These neighboring families see their fight escalate to deadly consequences.

Principal photography is scheduled to begin in Austin, Texas this September. The film is produced by Steven J. Berger of Provenance Pictures along with Dave Szamet, Kyle Fischer, and John Chriss.

Forsythe, who has appeared on Boardwalk Empire and The Devil’s Rejects, will play the leader of the McCluskey family. Monroe will play Abigail, the niece of Dale’s character. The actress was most recently seen in Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring. Wakefield will play Marcus, a member of the McCluskey family whose loyalty is tested because of his feelings for Abigail. O’Nan, who recently appeared in The Iceman, will play Doyle, a loyal member of the McCluskey clan. He will next be seen in the upcoming project Stretch.

The tentative release date for the picture is February 1, 2014. John Chriss, the screenwriter for the film, will also appear as the character Jasper in the film. The budget for this film will stay at the one million dollar mark.

Director Kane Senes is also credit with the short film, A Relative Stranger (2010). This short version was also co-written by Senes and Chriss. The short won various short film festival awards and also is set in Texas. The trailer for the short can be found here.
