TV show trailer & clip for ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Purpose in the Machine. With Skye having gone full Daisy (Chloe Bennet), the Inhumans mythology front-and-center, new battle lines drawn, concerning a serious rival of an agency, the third season of Agents has left the gate at an impressive pace. Understandable, given the kind of ground it stands to cover. Consider the amount of ground that already has been covered, however, since season 2, and one has to wonder how to follow up on this quick launch.
One thing to do would be to check for missing jockeys, back at the gate, as the promo to ‘Purpose in the Machine’ considers two characters left behind, last season.
Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) has had her condition improved, from meal-fit-for-a-monolith to an extreme case of MIA; but nobody else knows that. Luckily for her, Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) hasn’t given up; luckily for Fitz, a certain Asgardian ex-pat (Peter MacNicol) is on hand to help. Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), on the other hand, wasn’t so much left behind, as tossed; so his reasons, for getting back in the race, might have more to do with making glue, than getting any one horse across the finish line.
The clip provides some idea of just what kind of “family” Ward has in mind, in reconstructing HYDRA under his new management. I gotta say, I was impressed by his ‘traffic cone props.’ Not only did he make his point, regarding what he saw HYDRA as having been, versus what he has in store, but it looks he’ll be having some serious operatives behind him, when the light goes green.
Unfortunately, The Art of S.H.I.E.L.D. campaign hasn’t rematerialized, just yet, and may not return until season 3.2. Kinduva shame – I really look forward to those….
