AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.: Season 2, Episode 17: Melinda: Trailer, Clip, & Image [ABC]

TV show trailer, clip & poster for ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. 2.17, Melinda. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. takes the time to peak behind the killing floor curtain of Agent Melinda May’s (Ming-Na Wen) background. This, while Skye (Chloe Bennet) begins her official Inhuman training.

Official ‘Melinda’ plot synopsis:

The story of Melinda May’s transformation into “The Cavalry” is revealed as she finds herself at a crossroads in the war between Coulson and Gonzales. As Skye learns more about her true heritage from Lincoln, the truth about the Inhumans will send her in a new direction.

Long praised/ teased as The Cavalry, Agent May has managed to keep the particulars, behind the moniker, a closely kept secret; a secret that only the likes of Coulson (Clark Gregg) were privy to. There have also been references made to Bahrain, in relation to how she had earned/ been saddled with the title; and ‘Melinda’ looks to officially tie the two, for as official an Agent May origin tale as we’re likely to get.

To that end, the latest Art of S.H.I.E.L.D. poster – courtesy of Jenny Frison – delves deeper into this backstory than casual viewers might realize, at first glance.

In case you missed it (don’t worry – so did I), the lettering behind our hard pressed heroine spells out “The Cavalry.” Neat.

Closer to the plot we’re familiar with, May’s decision to assist in the deciphering of Coulson’s agenda, along with some pressure from Mack (Henry Simmons), could prove problematic to Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) – Simmons having already accounted for the very thing they both call for, just not necessarily in a way useful to Team Gonzales (Edward James Olmos).

‘Melinda’ also features Iain De Caestecker, Adrianne Palicki, Nick Blood, Ruth Negga, Kyle MacLachlan, Jamie Harris, Christine Adams, Blair Underwood, Dichen Lachman, Luke Mitchell, Kris Lemche, Terrell Tilford, Derek Phillips, Winter Ave Zoli, Ava Acres, Brendan Wayne, and Brett Dalton. It airs Tuesday, April 14, at 9:00p.m. EST, on ABC.
