AGENTS OF SHIELD: Clark Gregg Discusses Future of SHIELD and New Director [ABC]

Clark Gregg Phil Coulson Agents of SHIELD Season Three

Clark Gregg Teases Future of S.H.I.E.L.D. on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. When season three of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ended, we were left with a new shift in power at S.H.I.E.L.D. as we learned that Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) is back to being an agent. Gregg touched on the organization’s future.

There was a cliffhanger by the end of the third season where Daisy (Chloe Bennet) was on the run and Coulson is now an agent rather than the director. In an interview with EW, Clark Gregg talked about the new S.H.I.E.L.D., however he has no idea who’s in charge now. “I was not given a clear answer,” Gregg said. He also added:

I don’t know that it’s been determined. I thought I was going to find out when I saw Civil War, but it’s not at all clear. It all depends when the glorious Nick Fury returns from the cold and the shadows. I suspect, in the wake of the Sokovia Accords and the end of Civil War, the people involved in choosing who the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be are other than in-house S.H.I.E.L.D. people. If I know my government bureaucracies, I have a feeling it will be someone somewhat less qualified than Coulson to run S.H.I.E.L.D.

So who does Gregg think is running S.H.I.E.L.D. He quickly replied that maybe it could be the ‘Cavalry’ herself, Melinda May (Ming-Na Wei). “I’d love it if it was [May],” Gregg explained. “That would be magnificent. She has earned that right and she is a commander that Coulson would absolutely follow with absolute loyalty.”

Who do you think is the new Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.?
