AGENTS OF SHIELD: Johnny Blaze’s Ghost Rider Not Appearing Again [ABC]

Second Ghost Rider Agents of SHIELD

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Not Bringing Back Ghost Rider

This will be disappointing to fans as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. isn’t planning to bring back the second Ghost Rider to the series any time soon. The Johnny Blaze version of Ghost Rider made a cameo where we learned how Robbie Reyes was gifted with his devilish powers.

During the first half of this season, we got to journey with the Ghost Rider as we saw Robbie Reyes’ (Gabriel Luna) origin story of how he became the Spirit of Vengeance. Part of that story involved another Ghost Rider, who seemed a lot like Johnny Blaze but it was never confirmed. Basically, this Ghost Rider was the one who passed his spirit onto Robbie in order to save his life. Many fans have hoped that this cameo would lead to more appearances. That’s because in the comics, Blaze became a mentor to Robbie, helping him control his new powers. It would be cool to see these two teaming up in a future episode or even in a spin-off series. However, producer Jeff Bell clarified that it won’t be happening on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Bell told IGN that not only does the show have no plans for the second Ghost Rider, but he also explained that Robbie is now the only sole Spirit of Vengeance. It means that the Spirit is only passed down from person to person. “There is a tradition within the comics that there’s been many Ghost Riders and our take on that was they’re not simultaneously a tribe of Ghost Riders, but that it’s passed,” Bell said. “The Spirit of Vengeance is passed from person to person. In that respect, at least our intention was that the Spirit of Vengeance was passed from one person to another, and who passed that on, there are suggestions within the storytelling … That’s as far as we’re going to take that part.”

Even though this is sad news, at least we have a possibility of Robbie showing up again before the season closes. What do you guys think of this?
