Alien: Covenant Trailer 2

20th Century Fox has released a second movie trailer for Alien: Covenant (2017). This trailer gives a lot of the new film away. It also shows the viewer that this film is taking no qualms when it comes to referencing Alien and Prometheus.

This trailer is an exciting look at the new film. One of its best aspects had nothing to do with special effects. Daniels (Katherine Waterston) notes how there is wheat on an alien planet and nothing else. No bugs. No animals. Why is that? How did the wheat get there and why are there no bugs or animals? It was a tantalizing observation and queries were unnerving.

For me, that was the height of the trailer because it was thought-provoking. It made your imagination take over as you watched what was unfolding on-screen. That mental work did not last long. What followed the wheat moment was more of the same from what was shown in the red band trailer for Alien: Covenant: face-huggers hugging people, people running, people screaming, tense moments, etc. This time around, though, the viewer got xenomorphs on-screen using their heads to break glass.

Like I said, it was a fun trailer. It will get fans and diehards into theaters.

The only thing of interest to me in this film are Daniels’ observation and queries and fate of David and Elizabeth Shaw from Prometheus.

Alien: Covenant‘s plot synopsis: “Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.”

Ridley Scott‘s Alien: Covenant also stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby.
