Ridley Scott Reveals That Alien: Covenant Sequel Has Already Been Written

Academy Award-nominated The Martian director Ridley Scott says that development has already started on a sequel to Alien: Covenant.

Speaking about the future of the iconic science fiction franchise, Scott told reporters on the set of the upcoming movie that not only has a follow-up already been written but that it could even start shooting as early as 2018. The reason for this, as the director explained, was that 20th Century Fox is confident in the film’s ability to perform and doesn’t want to waste any resulting momentum from said success by waiting two years to pump out a sequel.

As if this wasn’t exciting enough, the Kingdom of Heaven director also shared that he was willing to go even further than he originally planned and make six new Alien movies instead of the four he initially set out to make.

Superherohype, the source of this story, had this to share about the upcoming science fiction film:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created with Alien: Covenant, a new chapter in his groundbreaking Alien franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
