All the Boys Love Mandy Lane gets released

all-the-boys-love-mandy-lane-poster.jpgA sold horror film might finally see the light of day. All the Boys Love Mandy Lane is an American horror film produced by Occupant Films that was completed back in 2006. After appearing at multiple film festivals, including London FrightFest Film Festival, South by Southwest Film Festival, Sitges Film Festival and the Toronto Film Festival, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane was set to be released in 2007. The distribution rights to the film was owned by The Weinstein Company but after the theatrical failure of 2007’s Grindhouse, they decided to hedge against further financial disasters and sold the North American distribution rights to another distributor, Senator Entertainment US. All the Boys Love Mandy Lane will be the first film released by the German-based company. “Said Senator U.S. president and CEO Marco Weber: ‘When we saw this movie at Toronto last year, we immediately secured distribution in Germany. With our company now set up for select U.S. releases, we jumped at the opportunity to secure North American rights. We feel this movie has tremendous commercial appeal, and it’s the perfect project to kick off our U.S. distribution ambitions.’” The Weinstein Co. needed a financial win and they seem to have found it with Mandy Lane. What the Weinstein Co. paid for worldwide distribution rights to All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, they received that same amount for only the North American rights from Senator Entertainment. The Weinstein Co. has sold off the distribution rights for several territories around the world but they have shrewdly kept all the home entertainment rights.

If All the Boys Love Mandy Lane turns into a hit and people want to watch it at home, its even more cha-ching for the Weinstein Co. with very little financial risk. All the Boys Love Mandy Lane will be released on April 25, 2008 and revolves around a “group of high schoolers [that] invite Mandy Lane (Amber Heard), a good girl who became quite hot over the summer, to a weekend party on a secluded ranch. While the festivities rage on, the number of revelers begins to drop quite mysteriously.”
