Andrew Garfield has been named as the new Spider-Man/Peter Parker. Sony made the announcement on their Twitter account and through an official press release. Production of the Spider-Man reboot begins in December 2010 and will be directed by Marc Webb, based on script by James Vanderbilt.

“Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor’s work understand his extraordinary talents. He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love [him as Peter],” says Webb.
