Annabelle: Creation Trailer 2 and Poster

New Line Cinema has released the second movie trailer and a movie poster for Annabelle: Creation a.k.a. Annabelle 2. I was not expecting the protagonist (Lulu Wilson) in this film to have a handicap. That made what she was going through all the more perilous (the writer’s intention). Unlike her compatriots, she was unable to simply run away from the threats or scares. At best she could hobble away.

Regarding this film’s existence, the only place the producers of this horror franchise could go with the Annabelle story was backward. By doing the viewer has now been given in reverse an origin story in a series of films.

I have seen both Conjuring films and part of the first Annabelle film. From what I saw of the doll Annabella in the other films, in Annabelle: Creation she may not be used as effectively but the horror scenes surrounding her have been amplified. Annabelle is no longer a accoutrement to a far bigger narrative or a single-serving spin-off film. She is the centerpiece in Annabelle: Creation and around her, in this trailer, was spun a web of horror involving children and their caretakers.
