Russell Crowe May Join The Cast Of Arc Of Justice
In addition to his Oscar win, the Australian actor earned a BAFTA Award for his performance in A Beautiful Mind as well a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for his ensemble part in Les Miserables. Other films he has appeared in include L.A. Confidential, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, 3:10 to Yuma, and Noah. More recently, he has acted in The Nice Guys and is set to play Dr. Jekyll in The Mummy.
Based on the historical nonfiction book by Kevin Boyle, the movie will see Crowe act opposite David Oyelowo should he join the cast and Jose Padilha, known for his work on Narcos, serve as director. Comingsoon.net, the source of this story, shares the following synopsis of the book:
“In 1925, Detroit was a smoky swirl of jazz and speakeasies, assembly lines and fistfights. The advent of automobiles had brought workers from around the globe to compete for manufacturing jobs, and tensions often flared with the KKK in ascendance and violence rising. Ossian Sweet, a proud Negro doctor-grandson of a slave-had made the long climb from the ghetto to a home of his own in a previously all-white neighborhood. Yet just after his arrival, a mob gathered outside his house; suddenly, shots rang out: Sweet, or one of his defenders, had accidentally killed one of the whites threatening their lives and homes.
