ARCHER: Producer Eyes Jon Hamm For Live-Action Movie

Jon Hamm

Jon Hamm being considered to play Sterling Archer. One of the popular animated FX show’s producers has expressed support for the idea of having the Mad Men star portray a live-action version of the character.

While plans for a film version of Archer are far from confirmed, executive producer Matt Thompson revealed who he is interested in having play the boorish super spy. The producer identified none other than Hamm as the most qualified person to play Archer on the big screen, although he acknowledged that some of the crew were more interested in an animated feature. Such a move would allow the show’s cast, including H. Jon Benjamin, who voices Archer, to reprise their roles for the film. Regardless, Thompson felt secure enough in his decision to claim that he said it with “great confidence” that Hamm would play the character if they ever end up making a live-action movie:

Archer features the voices of H. Jon Benjamin as the highly-skilled and incredibly vain master spy, Sterling Archer; Aisha Tyler as Archer’s fellow agent and ex-girlfriend, Lana Kane; Jessica Walter as Archer’s domineering mother and spy agency director, Malory Archer; Chris Parnell as the easily intimidated comptroller-turned secret agent, Cyril Figgis; Judy Greer as Malory’s loquacious, dingbat secretary, Cheryl; Amber Nash as the discordant director of human resources, Pam Poovey; Adam Reed as the gay voice of reason, Ray Gillette; and Lucky Yates as the spy agency’s possibly mad scientist/ possibly clone of himself, Krieger.
