ARROW: Season 4 Bringing Back Old Felicity Smoak [The CW]

Emily Bett Rickards Felicity Smoak Arrow

Arrow’s Fourth Season Sees Return of the Old Felicity Smoak. There were mixed reactions among fans with Arrow’s darker tone in season three. The tone caused a change in personality to Felicity Smoak, which got fans worried. However, we may see her back to her bubbly self next season.

The CW’s Arrow faced some criticism for it’s darker tone by killing off Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), the apparent death and resurrection of Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), and the murder and revival of Thea (Willa Holland). So basically, we saw a whole lot of deaths this past season but we also saw a serious Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards). Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim pointed out to TVLine that the darker tone was the cause of Felicity’s gloomier attitude.  “The show got really, really dark last year, and I think [Felcity] reacted accordingly.  Certainly no one was more tired of the crying than Emily [Bett Rickards], but right behind Emily was the rest of us.”
