AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR (2018): Film and Sequel Brings a New Start to the MCU

Thanks New Avengers

Avengers: Infinity War Will Mark a New Beginning to the MCU. With Phase 3 ending with Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel, this also will mark the end of the main storyline that started with Iron Man. However, it will also be the beginning of a new chapter for the MCU.

Even though Avengers: Infinity War hasn’t begun filming yet, fans already know that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be going through a big shift in storyline and characters. Thanos slowly came into the lives of the Avengers with these big teases in the last two films, so the Titan is finally making his appearance as the main villain and will wrap up the line-up that started with Iron Man back in 2008. This is also true for most of the main actors whose contracts are about to end after this film.

IGN spoke with Anthony Russo about how the next Avengers film will both mark the end of some of our characters and have a new beginning. Here’s what the director said regarding the direction of the film:

I can’t get into too much detail about who we’re introducing, but these two movies are intended to be the culmination of everything that has happened in the MCU since the very first Iron Man movie. In being a culmination, these movies are in some ways going to be an end to certain things, and in some ways, they’re going to be the beginning of certain things.

So with these new heroes coming in, are we going to see the New Avengers forming? That hasn’t been determined yet, but Anthony added that they are determining whether they want to focus on some of the characters by inclination or just for the story.

It’s a little bit of both, because you always have to make sure that your choices feel organic to the storytelling, and really, you have to sort of structure them in the way that they need to be there. You have to have them, or they shouldn’t be in the movie. It’s a little bit of a dance between the two, where you have big eyes, and you want everybody included in the movie, but you have to go through the process of… what’s the best story that you can tell.

What do you guys think the MCU will head to in Phase 4?
