AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR – PART I (2018): Stellan Skarsgard Might Reprise His Thor Role

Stellan Skarsgard Thor

Stellan Skarsgard will possibly appear in Avengers: Infinity War – Part I. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star might reprise his role from the Thor series in the film.

The question arose during an interview with Den of Geek about his current film, Our Kind Of Traitor. Asked about the status of his continued involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Skarsgard gave an answer that comes as a surprise to many.

It was expected that the Cinderella actor would return as Erik Selvig, the character he portrays in the Thor films. Contrary to such expectations however, Skarsgard said that he would not be reprising the role for Thor: Ragnarok, the third entry in that series’ trilogy. He did, however, note something very interesting. While he may not be appearing in Ragnarok, he still is contracted to appear in one more Marvel movie. Skarsgard points out that a likely candidate for his fifth and final movie in the Marvel franchise is Avengers: Infinity War:

Skarsgård also revealed that he had a five-picture deal with Marvel, meaning he has one film left in his deal (after appearing in Thor, The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World and Avengers: Age of Ultron).  The Swedish actor believes that Marvel will cash in its remaining Selvig chips for Avengers: Infinity War.

“I have a five-film deal with them, and they still have one option.  Thor 3 is not on my slate, but maybe the next Avengers.”
