The Awakener Gets a Live-Action Film and Animated Series

One of Brazil’s most popular comic book series The Awakener is about to receive it’s own live-action adaptation as well as an animated series. Writer Luciano Cunha’s critically acclaimed comic books will start its production on both adaptations later this year.

Fans of the comic book series The Awakener will ne excited to know that the vigilante will be getting it’s own live-action adaptation. The Awakener has been a popular series since it’s first three printed editions sold out with it’s following already growing by the numbers on the hero’s fan page. According to Comic Book Movie, The series will get a feature film and an animated series. The film will be set to begin shooting in September of this year with the animated series already in pre-production with a release date on April 2018. Expect the feature film to get released during the second half of 2018.

For those unfamiliar with the comics, The Awakener follows a former soldier who becomes a masked vigilante hunting down corruption in his country whether it’s politicians or business executives. The comic strip found life in March 2013 on Facebook before it gained national attention for it’s depiction of Brazil’s government, something that has plagued the country since the corruption scandal at Petrobras.
