Jesse Eisenberg Talks About Playing Lex Luthor Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice. Ever since news broke last year that Jesse Eisenberg was picked to play Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman, fans grew skeptical for Zack Snyder choosing a young actor to play the famous villain and threatened to boycott the movie. We heard from the director on his decision, but we haven’t heard from the actor himself until now.

According to ComicBookMovie.com, Jesse Eisenberg spoke with Total Film about playing one of the most iconic roles in comic book history while promoting his recent film Night Moves. Jesse told the film magazine that he hasn’t read the comics nor has watched the films. He did mention that after he was picked for the part of Superman’s nemesis, Jesse did look through stacks of comic books and watched the Christopher Reeves’ version of Superman where Gene Hackman played Lex Luthor.

“My father always cautions me against thinking of something as a means to some other end, because then its irresponsible to the ‘means’ thing,” Jesse Eisenberg said, reassuring that he didn’t take the iconic role in the Man of Steel sequel just for money or as a career choice. He also added, “They asked me if I wanted to play the part before they sent me the script. I’m not sure how it worked, but it’s something I read with the understanding that I could do the role…”

To sum it up, the 30-year-old actor explained that he took the part before reading the script and liked what he read. Jesse Eisenberg will become a household name once Dawn of Justice gets released. “I realize how popular comic-book movies are, and now, working on one, I realize why they’re popular – the story is really good, the dialogue is really good, the artistry behind every department is high, the acting is really good. So if they’re all put together with that level of quality…”

Eisnberg only offered a little bit of what to expect from his take on Lex Luthor. “I can only say I’ve been asked to play an interesting role: a complicated, challenging person.”
