Baywatch Trailer

Seth Gordon‘s Baywatch (2017) teaser trailer stars Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, and Ilfenesh Hadera. Baywatch‘s plot synopsis: “Baywatch follows devoted lifeguard Mitch Buchannon (Johnson) as he butts heads with a brash new recruit (Efron). Together, they uncover a local criminal plot that threatens the future of the Bay.”

Initial thoughts aside, I found this trailer to be highly entertaining. There are far more jokes and humor in this film than I assumed. No one takes themselves completely serious, which is either a good thing or a bad thing. The characters even comment on the other characters running in slow motion, a hallmark of the TV show.

From what is on-screen, I think this film is going to be a hit, spawning new films in a potential franchise (the producers hope).

On the original Baywatch TV show:

Baywatch is an American action drama series about the Los Angeles County Lifeguards who patrol the beaches of Los Angeles County, California, starring David Hasselhoff [Parker Stevenson, Shawn Weatherly, Billy Warlock, Erika Eleniak, Peter Phelps, Brandon Call, Holly Gagnier, Yasmine Bleeth, and Pamela Anderson]. The show was canceled after its first season on NBC, but survived and later became one of the most watched television shows in the world. The show ran in its original title and format from 1989 to 1999, except for the 1990–1991 season, during which it was not in production. From 1999 to 2001, with a setting change and large cast overhaul, it was known as Baywatch Hawaii.

Baywatch also stars Jon Bass, Priyanka Chopra, David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, Angelique Kenney, Charlotte McKinney, Kelly Rohrbach, Hannibal Buress, Oscar Nuñez, Rob Huebel, Charisse Lyon, Dawn Soleri, Inder Kumar, Amin Joseph, Brandon Larracuente, and Jack Kesy.
