BEETLEJUICE 2: Tim Burton Says He’s Working On Sequel Film

New Beetlejuice Script In The Works. While Tim Burton and Michael Keaton are currently basking in the warm glow of critical acclaim for their work on Big Eyes and Birdman (respectively), the interest for a new collaboration between the duo is back in the pop culture zeitgeist.

During a recent interview, Coming Soon asked the director for an update on the long overdue project and he stated:

It’s a character that I love and I miss and I miss actually working with Michael. There’s only one Betelgeuse. We’re working on a script and I think it’s probably closer than ever and I’d love to work with him again.

News of a Beetlejuice sequel has been circulating throughout the entertainment industry for decades but the rumours have started carrying more weight in the last couple of years. In October of 2013 The Wrap reported that Burton was in talks to direct the sequel. Both Keaton and Burton are currently in the midst of career resurgences and collaborating on bringing back the iconic role may be just what they both need to maintain their current momentum.
