BEHIND THE CANDELABRA (2013) TV Movie Trailer: Douglas plays Liberace

Matt Damon Michael Douglas Behind the Candelabra

Behind the Candelabra Trailer. Steven Soderbergh‘s Behind the Candelabra (2013) movie trailer stars Matt Damon, Michael Douglas, Rob Lowe, Paul Reiser, and Boyd Holbrook. Behind the Candelabra‘s plot synopsis: based on Scott Thorson‘s autobiographical book Behind the Candelabra: My Life With Liberace,”‘Behind the Candelabra’ is about the life of [Wladziu Valentino Liberace] and his live-in lover, Scott Thorson. The film delves into Thorson’s first role as Liberace’s on-stage driver, his plastic surgery (at the behest of Liberace) and all the ups and downs of Thorson and Liberace’s explosive relationship.”

Behind the Candelabra looks all the more fascinating because it resists the temptation to go too over-the-top with the tale. Soderbergh, Douglas, and Damon are obviously having plenty of fun with the absurdity of it all, but they imbue even the strangest of these characters’ actions with recognizably human motivations. Said motivations are dressed up in rhinestones, dolled up with rouge, and doused with champagne, sure, but they’re there.

Behind the Candelabra also stars Dan Aykroyd, Caroline Jaden Stussi, Max Napolitano, Scott Bakula, Debbie Reynolds, Kiff VandenHeuvel, Nicky Katt, Cheyenne Jackson, Eddie Jemison, and Tom Papa.
