BEN-HUR (2016) Movie Trailer 2 & Featurette: Toby Kebbell Betrays Jack Huston

Ben-Hur Trailer 2 and Featurette

The second movie trailer and a movie featurette for Ben-Hur (2016) has been released for the Timur Bekmambetov directed film. This trailer was better than the first one but that is not saying much. The first trailer was okay and that’s all. This trailer is an improvement because much more of the story is on display, especially the relationship between Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston) and Messala (Toby Kebbell). Showing Jesus (Rodrigo Santoro) all throughout the trailer was a huge mistake. He was marginalized in the original Ben-Hur film for a reason.

This was not the case in Lew Wallace‘s great book. Jesus was a motivating factor and provided the framework for the narrative. In the original film adaptation, Jesus popped up at key moments, ameliorating the story but the focus was on Ben-Hur. Jesus never spoke a word in that film. His inclusion in that film was brilliant. The way Jesus is used and shown in this remake makes an ordinary plot point out of him.

The movie featurette is about the chariots and the pivotal chariot race in the film.

Ben-Hur (2016) also stars Morgan Freeman, Haluk Bilginer, Nazanin Boniadi, Pilou Asbæk, Marwan Kenzari, Moises Arias, Yasen Atour, David Walmsley, Ayelet Zurer, Sofia Black-D’Elia, James Cosmo, and Julian Kostov.

Ben-Hur‘s plot synopsis: “BEN-HUR is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption.”
