BLACK WIDOW: Fan-made Title Sequence for Fictional Marvel Film

Black Widow Title Sequence for Fictional Film. A real Black Widow Marvel film is not in the cards until after 2019. Marvel Cinematic Universe up until that point has no Black Widow film planned. Scarlett Johannson will also be half a decade older than she is now in 2020. Playing a younger version of herself at that point may prove to be problematic. If it happens, however, fans will gladly suspend disbelief. Most-likely, the closest fans will ever get seeing Scarlett Johannson in a spy-like role in a film all her own is as Major Motoko Kusanagi in the live-action Ghost in a Shell film.

I speculated in my review for Avengers: Age of Ultron that Marvel would never make a Black Widow film. Specifically, I said:

What the viewer learned of Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson)’s past through the Scarlett Witch manipulation subplot deserved its own film, a movie that fans will never be granted (it wouldn’t be a superhero movie, it would be a Soviet Union, spy, assassin film – think FX’s The Americans. The Marvel Universe does not want a film like that).

Regarding “a Soviet Union, spy, assassin film,” it would seem someone else had the same idea of what a Black Widow film would look like and be like. That person is Christopher Haley. He created the Black Widow title sequence for a fiction film starring Scarlett Johannson, Rosamund Pike, Samuli Edelmann, Clark Gregg, and Ming-Na Wen. He included Portishead’s Sour Times as the title sequence’s soundtrack.

Mr. Haley even came up with a plotline for his fictional Black Widow film:

Cut off one head, two more shall take its place… For this speculative title sequence of a Black Widow film I decided Black Widow’s villain would be… Black Widow. Yelena Belova, to be specific. Belova believes herself to be the superior Black Widow, and in some ways she is right. Swift and ruthless, Belova is the most talented assassin to graduate from the Red Room– and now she is Hydra’s most deadly weapon. At Belova’s side is a super-soldier of her own, Alexi Shostakov– the Red Guardian, who also happens to be Natasha’s former lover. When the new heads of Hydra make a play for the power of the infinity stones it is up to S.H.I.E.L.D.’s top agent to stop them.

Mr. Haley character list for his fictional Black Widow film:

Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) – Scarlett Johansson
Yelena Belova (other Black Widow) – Rosamund Pike
Alexi Shostakov (Red Guardian) – Samuli Edelmann
Phil Coulson – Clark Gregg
Melinda May – Ming-Na Wen

I think its an interesting idea for a Black Widow film but like I said earlier, Marvel has no plans for a soviet-spy film in the near future.

What do you think of Mr. Haley Black Widow film idea and his title sequence?
