David Dastmalchian Hiam Abbass

David Dastmalchian and Hiam Abbass slated to appear in Blade Runner 2. The two actors are the latest to join the growing cast of the science fiction sequel from Warner Bros.

Both Abbass and Dastmalchian are known for playing supporting roles in big-budget films. Dastmalchian previously appeared in The Dark Knight and Ant-Man, where he played one of The Joker’s mentally-disturbed henchman and one of Scott Lang’s mischievous friends respectively. As for Abbass, she is known for her appearances in Munich and The Visitor as well as playing the lead in the critically-successful Lemon Tree. The two actors have other future projects on their plate besides Blade Runner 2, however: Dasmalchian is set to act in Showtime‘s upcoming Twin Peaks revival, while Abbass will soon be seen in a French production entitled Corps etranger:

Denis Villeneuve (SicarioPrisoners) is directing the film, which will be released in theaters October 6, 2017. The film will be released by Warner Bros. in North America and Sony Pictures Releasing International will distribute in all media for all overseas territories.

Although story details are not being revealed, it has been confirmed that the Blade Runner sequel is set several decades after the 1982 original and will feature Ford reprising his iconic role as Blade Runner Rick Deckard. The film is written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, and succeeds the initial story by Fancher and David Peoples, based on Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.
