Box Office August 9-11, 2013. Elysium premiered in the Number One Spot at the box office over the weekend with $30.4 Million. We’re the Millers premiered in Second Place with $26.5 Million. Planes premiered in Third Place with $22.5 Million. Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters premiered in Fourth Place with $14.6 Million. 2 Guns was Fifth with $11.1 Million. The Smurfs 2, The Wolverine, The Conjuring, Despicable Me 2, and Grown Ups 2 rounded out the top ten respectively.

Elysium is an American science fiction action film written, co-produced and directed by Neill Blomkamp and starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster. It was released on August 9, 2013 in both conventional and IMAX Digital theaters. Elysium is a co-production of Media Rights Capital and TriStar Pictures. It also represents TriStar’s first big-budget[vague] offering since The Mask of Zorro in 1998.

The film takes place on both a ravaged Earth and a luxurious space habitat called Elysium. It explores political and sociological themes such as immigration, health care and class issues. When asked whether the film reveals how he sees Earth turning out in 140 years, director Blomkamp responded “No, no, no. This isn’t science fiction. This is today. This is now.”

We’re the Millers is a 2013 American comedy film directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. It stars Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts, and Will Poulter.

Planes is a 2013 American 3D computer-animated adventure sports comedy film produced by DisneyToon Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is a spin-off of Pixar’s Cars franchise and the first film in a planned Planes trilogy.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters is a 2013 American fantasy-adventure film based on the Rick Riordan novel of the same name. It is a sequel to the 2010 film Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and continues the adventures of Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman) and his friends, as they search for the Golden Fleece at the titular Sea of Monsters to save an ailing magical tree that protects their home from foes.
