The LEGO Batman Movie was Number One spot at the box office over the weekend for the second week in a row with $34.2 Million. The LEGO Batman Movie was predicted as being Number One this weekend and it will be Number one next weekend as well (nothing noteworthy is coming out next weekend). The weekend after that (beginning on Friday, March 3, 2017), Logan will be Number One at the box office.
Fifty Shades Darker was Second for the second week in a row with $20.9 Million.
The Great Wall premiered in Third Place with $18 Million. That was higher than expected John Wick: Chapter Two was Fourth with $16.5 Million. Fist Fight premiered in Fifth Place with $12 Million. Hidden Figures, Split, A Dog’s Purpose, La La Land, and A Cure for Wellness (which premiered this weekend) rounded out the top ten respectively.
The Great Wall…is a 2016 monster film directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Matt Damon, who plays a European mercenary in China during the Song dynasty. He encounters the Great Wall of China and meets Chinese soldiers who defend against monsters. The Chinese-US co-production also stars Jing Tian, Pedro Pascal, Willem Dafoe and Andy Lau.
Fist Fight is a 2017 American comedy film directed by Richie Keen and written by Van Robichaux and Evan Susser. The film stars Ice Cube, Charlie Day, Christina Hendricks, Jillian Bell and Tracy Morgan and follows two teachers who plan to fight each other after one of them gets fired.
A Cure for Wellness is a 2016 science fiction psychological horror thriller film directed by Gore Verbinski and written by Justin Haythe. The film stars Dane DeHaan, Jason Isaacs and Mia Goth, and follows a young American executive who is sent to a mysterious rehabilitation center in the Swiss Alps.
Next week sees the release of Get Out, Rock Dog, and Collide.
