Box Office: May 22-24, 2015: TOMORROWLAND, PITCH PERFECT 2

Box Office May 22-24, 2015. Tomorrowland premiered in the Number One spot at the box office over the weekend with $32.1 Million. Pitch Perfect 2 premiered in Second with $30.3 Million for $117.7 Million so far. Mad Max: Fury Road was Third with $23.8 Million. Poltergeist premiered in Fourth Place with $23 Million. Avengers: Age of Ultron was Fifth with $20.9 Million for $404 Million so far. Hot Pursuit, Furious 7, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, Home, and The Age of Adaline rounded out the top ten respectively.

Tomorrowland (titled Disney Tomorrowland: A World Beyond in the United Kingdom) is a 2015 American science fiction mystery adventure film directed by Brad Bird, and co-written and produced by Bird and Damon Lindelof. The film stars George Clooney, Hugh Laurie, Britt Robertson, Raffey Cassidy, Thomas Robinson, Tim McGraw, Kathryn Hahn, and Keegan-Michael Key.

Walt Disney Pictures originally announced the film under the working title 1952, and later retitled it to Tomorrowland, after the futuristic themed land found at Disney theme parks. Bird and Lindelof’s screenplay was heavily influenced by Walt Disney’s optimistic philosophy of innovation and utopia, such as his conceptual vision for the planned community known as EPCOT.

Poltergeist is a 2015 American 3D supernatural thriller-fantasy horror film directed by Gil Kenan, written by David Lindsay-Abaire and produced by Sam Raimi. A reboot and remake of producer Steven Spielberg’s and director Tobe Hooper’s 1982 film of the same name, the film stars Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Jared Harris, and Jane Adams.
