Perhaps it was because of Labor Day. Whatever the reason, The American premiered in the Number One spot at the box office this weekend with $12.9 Million. Takers was Second with $11.4 Million. Machete premiered in Third Place with $11.3 Million. The Last Exorcism was Fourth with $7.6 Million. Going the Distance premiered in Fifth Place with $6.8 Million. The Expendables, The Other Guys, Eat Pray Love, Inception, and Nanny McPhee Returns rounded out the top ten respectively.
