I am going to play a bit of catch up here.

Steve Martin is a talent for sure, though he has not been in anything good since Bowfinger.

And Steve Martin will never be as good as Peter Sellers, NO ONE will ever be as good as Peter Sellers, the man is a comedic God, if you will. I think Steve Martin has done his best to try and match the Orginal, but sadly becaise Sony wants to keep a family type film, it will never reach the calibre that the Peter Sellers Panther flicks are.

    @FIlm Book
I think you are mistaken, The orginal are definetly worth your viewing, they are pretty darn good, even now I don't see the humor as dated, very similiar to Bugs Bunny, in that i still watch Bugs Bunny which i have seen ever one god knows how many times, and they still make me piss my pants laughing, same goes for the Pink panther with Sellers, still make me laugh to this day. Definetly recomened watching them.
  • I would rather watch Bugs Bunny, Old School or Badder Santa.

Any real fan of The original "Pink Panther" films (I'm one) can tell you that Martin doesn't pull off a convincing PETER SELLERS and never will!
You can't skate by these days with the cartoon image of Pink Panther ...
(Bottom line) the reason Pink Panther is a dud, Martin can't carry/ market the franchise into a kid friendly PG-13 cinematic hit, and the writing is mindless fluff.

Paul Blart will kick his ass, everytime!

    Go Segway Go!!!!
  • I have never seen the original Pink Panther movie. They looked to goofy to me. I will never watch these either since they look even less funny than those.
  • @790. True. Pink Panther seems like one of the bad ones.

Martin's a funny guy, when he doesn't have a bad script to read, but most kids would rather see Mall Cop then Pink Panther.

    The BO numbers don't lie,,,
  • @jaded viewer. Hell no.
@790. Mall Cop looks low brow enough to be a kids movie. Why is Steve Martin a freak? He was funny on his recent appearance on The Colbert Report.
@Metallicat79. I would have thought a STV film would have made more money than Pink Panther and Mall Cop.

Naah Steve Martin scares kids,,, they don't want to see that freak...
  • Metallicat79
I would have though Pink Panther would have made more than Mall Cop honestly.

Mall Cop did well because its basically a kids film...
  • They just greenlit Friday's sequels for the next 5 years. Happy everyone?

Now we're going to see a "clever" Jason Voorhees who relies on bear traps and tunnel systems.

    Arghhh.

How did Mall Cop make that much dough?? I guess i am the monority now, I guess ony teenage kids with their parents money go to see movies these days. Interesting.
  • I thought the same thing about Mall Cop but I did not want to seem bias about a film I had never seen so I left it out of the post.

Wow "The International" sure bombed ,,,

Can't say I care much for slasher films,,,
  • The International looked generic, that's why. Don't bother with Friday the 13th (2009). It sucked. One nice nude scene though.
