Gabrielle Union Will Act And Produce Breaking In

BET Award-nominated The Birth of a Nation actress Gabrielle Union is set to headline and produce the upcoming thriller Breaking In.

A highly prolific actress, Union has made her mark on stage and screen alike. Starting off with guest appearances on TV series like Family Matters, Saved by the Bell: The New Class, and 7th Heaven, she moved on to supporting roles in movies like She’s All That, 10 Things I Hate About You, Love & Basketball, and Running With Scissors. More recently, she has acted in the Think Like A Man films and starred in this year’s Sleepless.

Based on a script by Ryan Engle, the film also has Practical Picture’s Will Packer, James Lopez, Craig Per ry, and Sheila Taylor tapped to produce and James McTeigue to direct. Focusing on a violent home invasion, the movie will focus on the female protagonist’s efforts to keep her loved ones safe from the intruders. No release date has been offered for the film.

Union stars in the critically acclaimed BET series Being Mary Jane, which began in 2013, for which she won an NAACP Image Award. Union is an Ambassador in Susan G. Komen for the Cure‘s Circle of Promise and is a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood. In addition to producing Breaking In, Union has executive produced the TV movie With This Ring, the series Being Mary Jane and the film Almost Christmas.
