Will Smith and Joel Edgerton Team Up in First Teaser for Netflix’s Bright

Director David Ayer and Will Smith are teaming up again this year for another film, a fantasy crime film titled Bright. In the 30-second trailer released during the Oscars, we see Will Smith as an LAPD officer as he partners with Joel Edgerton who is playing an orc who is a cop.

In the first teaser for Netflix’s upcoming film Bright, viewers will enter into a world where fantasy creatures like orcs, elves, fairies, and magic exist. The problem is, it’s not a world that anyone would want to inhabit. Directed by Suicide Squad’s David Ayer and written by Chronicle’s Max Landis, Bright follows the story of Scott Ward (Will Smith), a human LAPD cop who teams up with Nick Jakoby (Joel Edgerton), the first orc to become a cop, as they look for a wand, the most powerful and illegal weapon in existence.

We can see in the video that there will certainly be a mix of fantasy and realism throughout the film. It kind of feels like David Ayer’s other film End of Watch witnessing the streets of LA through the eyes of two cops, except this time, we have a human and orc working together rather than normal cops.
