Cannes Film Festival 2010: Fipresci Prize Winner

The International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) Prize at the Cannes Film Festival for 2010 was awarded to Tournée / On Tour. On Tour is directed by Mathieu Amalric and stars Mathieu Amalric,  Anne Benoît, Miranda Colclasure, and Alexander Craven. On Tour‘s plot synopsis: “The tale of a French manager and his American burlesque performers touring France.”

According to a statement made by FIPRESCI jury president Alin Tasciyan, this year the awards were handed out to “the future, new auteurs and masters.” That may explain Amalric’s win, as he’s best known for his work in front of the cameras, e.g., The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Kings and Queen.
