CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER (2014): Hayley Atwell Not Returning

Hayley Atwell Captain America The First Avenger

Hayley Atwell is not returning for Captain America 2. Hayley Atwell will not be retuning as pugnacious Strategic Scientific Reserve Officer Peggy Carter in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014). This reprisal news is do to the fact the Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be a contemporary story, which means Peggy is an now an old woman. If “we see [Peggy in Captain America: The Winter Soldier] expect an older actress to cameo in the role. Meanwhile, despite the fact that any adaptation of the Winter Soldier storyline, originated in the pages of the Captain America comic series, should feature Sharon Carter, expect a different actress [besides Atwell] to be cast in that role.

Her absence in the sequel was mentioned in a recent interview: “She won’t, she confirms, be back for the latter’s sequel, which moves the action into the present day.”

In my opinion, not having Carter in the film will hurt it as her and Steve Rogers’ possible relationship was one of the better subplots of Captain America: The First Avenger (Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) Film Review) and probably the best deleted scene on The Avengers Blu-ray.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘s plot synopsis: “Described as a political thriller, Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where the highly anticipated film “Marvel’s The Avengers” leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D, and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.”

Anthony Russo, Joe Russo‘s Captain America: The Winter Soldier stars Chris EvansAnthony MackieSebastian StanScarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, and Samuel L. Jackson.

    Bring her back

  • I wish. It’s done. Maybe he will have a dream about her and she will have a cameo that way.

  • Come on! I really like her! I was stunned when Captain America woke up after 70 years.. which means Peggy is old or dead.. She is Captain America’s love team!

  • Peggy is alive. They showed that fact in Captain America’s deleted scene from The Avengers.

  • Peggy won’t return for Winter Soldier ?
    That’s stunning news !
In addition to this, I’m sorry to tell you guys that Captain Stacy won’t be returning for Amazing Spider-Man 2 nor Goldfinger for the next James Bond movie…
