CAROL (2015) Movie Trailer 2: Rooney Mara & Cate Blanchett Pine For Each other in Silence

Carol Movie Trailer 2

Carol Movie Trailer 2. Todd Haynes‘ Carol (2015) movie trailer stars Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, and Kyle Chandler. Carol‘s plot synopsis: “Set in 1950s New York, a department-store clerk who dreams of a better life falls for an older, married woman.”

We’ve not only reported on Todd Haynes’ latest film, Carol, before, when the first trailer and movie poster were released, but I was fortunate enough to catch the New York Film Festival press screening of it (and reported on my experience, here). In short, I loved it. It’s beautifully shot, there’s a sense of texture and tangibility in every frame, the acting is incredible, and the story classical and not overly sentimental. I’ve heard from other critics that they wished it was more explosive or louder, in a sense, but I think the times and struggles that the film is largely about prevent that kind of thing from taking hold, narratively, and it doesn’t detract from the film (at least for me).

Take a look at the second trailer! It’s wordless, which is of note. This film is about things one can’t express openly, pining, longing, wishing for a better life, relationships that are doomed to fail – or are they? I highly recommend the film, regardless of boring those things might sound to you.

I grew up in Hamburg to a German father and Ecuadorian mother. Obsessive student of film, Hip-Hop, and stand-up comedy. I love the dark dreambox that is the cinema auditorium. I love mountains and the ocean, but am equally exhilarated by the jungle of the city. I hope to one day create something that hits someone in the brain with thunderous effect.
