Tom Holland

Tom Holland Joins The Cast Of Chaos Walking

Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland is set to play the lead in Lionsgate‘s adaptation of Patrick Ness’s Chaos Walking book series.

Slated to act opposite Star Wars: The Force AwakensDaisy Ridley, Holland will portray protagonist Todd Hewlitt. Living in a world where all women are believed to have been killed by a mysterious infection, Todd is startled to come across Ridley’s character Viola, whose existence throws everything he has been told into doubt:

The big screen adaptation of author Patrick Ness‘ young adult trilogy will be directed by Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow, Mr. & Mrs. Smith), with the post-apocalyptic tale officially described as follows:

Todd Hewitt is the last boy in Prentisstown. But Prentisstown isn’t like other towns. Everyone can hear everyone else’s thoughts in a constant, overwhelming, never-ending Noise. There is no privacy. There are no secrets. Or are there? Just one month away from the birthday that will make him a man, Todd unexpectedly stumbles upon a spot of complete silence. Which is impossible. Prentisstown has been lying to him. And now he’s going to have to run…

Robert Zemeckis was originally attached to direct an adaptation back in late 2013. He was planning to focus on the first book in the trilogy, “The Knife of Never Letting Go,” with Charlie Kaufman (AnomalisaSynecdoche, New York) providing the screenplay.
