Charlton Heston has died

charlton-heston-final.jpg

Famous actor Charlton Heston passed away last night at 84 years old. Heston had been diagnosed with symptoms consistent with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2002, though it is unclear at this point whether or not this was related to his death. As he passed away, Heston’s wife, Lydia, was by his side. I grew up on Heston films: Ben-Hur: A Tale of The Christ, The Ten Commandants, The Greatest Story Ever Told (Repent!!!), et cetera. I loved his later cameo appearances in films such as True Lies and Wayne’s World 2 and wished he had kept acting as Peter O’Toole has. The heroism Heston portrayed in his films had an effect on many people as they grew up and watched him, including myself. Charlton Heston was and is a film legend and icon. He will be sorely missed but will live on in the many classic films he starred in and made memorable.

No matter what you thought of the man’s politics near the end it cannot be denied that he was indeed an icon, or a legend if you want to use a pun.

Its weird. I watched him so many times on screen it feels as if I knew him in a way.

A lot of prominent actors and directors have died in the last few months.
