Cloverfield DVD

cloverfield-dvd-pic1.jpg

I am renting this puppy the day (well maybe not “the day”) it comes out. I saw Cloverfield twice in the theater. Once with a blatherskite sitting behind me and once in an empty movie theater. I loved the ideas behind the film, the camera work and the eye candy. The film’s producer, J.J. Abrams, and director Matt Reeves seem to love it as well Check out the confirmed DVD extras. Paramount Home Entertainment is releasing the Cloverfield DVD on April 22 and should retail around $27.95. The film is being presented in anamorphic widescreen along with Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. The Cloverfield DVD will include a commentary track by Director Matt Reeves, 4 featurettes (The Making of Cloverfield, Cloverfield Visual Effects, I Saw It! It’s Alive! It’s Huge, and Clover Fun), 6 additional scenes (Congrats Rob, When You’re in Japan, I Call That a Date, It’s Going to Hurt, Alt Ending #1, Alt Ending #2), and multiple Easter Eggs. The Easter eggs include: Slusho!, Person of Interest – JLVD Video 2, Person of Interest – JLVD Video 5, Person of Interest – JLVD Video 9, Person of Interest – JLVD Video 11, Rack ‘Em & Pack ‘Em and Fighting the X. When more features and easter eggs are revealed, I will post them.

Concerning the Blu-Ray release of Cloverfield, it’s rumored over at Bloody-Disgusting that the extras for that release will be scrapped so that the DVD can be released on time (April 22). The extras were apparently made for the HD-DVD release and now have to be converted over to Blu-Ray.
