Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend Movie Trailer. Yuen Woo-Ping‘s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend (2016) movie trailer stars Michelle YeohDonnie Yen and Jason Scott Lee. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend‘s plot synopsis: “A story of lost love, young love, a legendary sword and one last opportunity at redemption.”

A huge, seminal part of my formation of sensibilities and interests were things like horror, hip-hop, and kung-fu. I love these things, and unlike many other forming phases of life, these have never left me. True, I don’t go to DVD stores anymore and buy a stack of $3 kung-fu movies or watch them as often as I used to, but I’ll always love them.

When Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) was released at the dawn of the millenium and American audiences were being introduced to kung-fu, wuxia, the physics of Eastern fantasy films and Yuen Woo-Ping’s style, in general, Ang Lee‘s film was like the fine meal to make your parents like this stuff. It’s classy, beautifully shot, and has an actual plot that adult cinemagoers can care about. It was beautiful kung-fu movie for kids and parents alike, and is the reason so many of the adults in your life know about this fantastical foreign stuff.

I’m not sure how harsh Ang Lee not being involved in the sequel will feel or look like, but judging from this trailer for the sequel that will premier on Netflix next year, it looks like the cinematography isn’t as great, the CGI a glaring inclusion, and it doesn’t look like your parents will care about this at all.

I, however, am excited to have some kung-fu on Netflix. This looks like my kind of thing, even with bad lighting and exaggerated CGI. I can’t wait to see Donnie Yen as “Silent Wolf” in a Yuen Woo-Ping kung-fu movie on Netflix. It’s a strange time to be alive.

According to LiveForFilms, “Produced by The Weinstein Company, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend echoes the themes of the original movie, but tells its own story — one of lost love, young love, a legendary sword and one last opportunity at redemption, set against breathtaking action in an epic martial arts battle between good and evil that will decide the fate of the Martial World.”

I grew up in Hamburg to a German father and Ecuadorian mother. Obsessive student of film, Hip-Hop, and stand-up comedy. I love the dark dreambox that is the cinema auditorium. I love mountains and the ocean, but am equally exhilarated by the jungle of the city. I hope to one day create something that hits someone in the brain with thunderous effect.
