Cymbeline Trailer. Michael Almereyda‘s Cymbeline (2014) movie trailer stars Ed Harris, Dakota Johnson, Milla Jovovich, Ethan Hawke, and Penn Badgley. Cymbeline‘s plot synopsis: based on the play by William Shakespeare, “The King of Britain, enraged by his daughter’s disobedience in marrying against his wishes, banishes his new son-in-law. Having fled to Rome, the exiled husband makes a foolish wager with a villain he encounters there gambling on the fidelity of his abandoned wife. Combining courtly menace and horror, comedy and melodrama, Cymbeline is a moving depiction of two young lovers driven apart by deceit and self-doubt.”

More on Cymbeline (the play):

Cymbeline, also known as Cymbeline, King of Britain or The Tragedy of Cymbeline, is a play by William Shakespeare, set in Wales and based on legends concerning the early Celtic British King Cunobeline. Although listed as a tragedy in the First Folio, modern critics often classify Cymbeline as a romance. Like Othello and The Winter’s Tale, it deals with the themes of innocence and jealousy. While the precise date of composition remains unknown, the play was certainly produced as early as 1611.

Cymbeline also stars Anton Yelchin, John Leguizamo, Bill Pullman, Spencer Treat Clark, Delroy Lindo, James Ransone, Ivan Cardona, Lawrence Whitener, Charly Bivona, and Ross Brodar.
