Daddy’s Home Trailer. Sean Anders and John Morris‘s Daddy’s Home (2015) movie trailer stars Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell, Linda Cardellini, and Paul Scheer. Daddy’s Home‘s plot synopsis: “When a divorced guy’s ex-wife re-marries someone way more uptight, he re-enters her life and wreaks havoc.”
Mark Wahlberg has solidified himself as a viable comedic asset ever since Ted blew up the box-office. He was hysterical at various points in Boogie Nights, but that was a far more successful showcase for his dramatic chops than anything else. Bit parts in things like Date Night helped ramp up his official entry to comedy, and Ted just cemented that ability to transition in and out of it. This is now the second time Wahlberg joins Ferrell in a comedy – the two were in The Other Guys together in 2010.
Daddy’s Home reminds strongly of Step Brothers, though this time, they don’t seem to bond and take on the world together. Rather, they’re opposites, enemies, father and step-father. I wouldn’t be surprised, though, to find these two get along at the end of act two, and give the audience the catharsis they need to walk out of this happy. It sure seems like a formulaic movie, so why not? In any case, I’m always ready to give Will Ferrell a shot, so I’ll check this out eventually. As for paying $13 to see this in a theatre? Well, this comes out in December. At that point we’ll have a new Tarantino film out. We’ll have a new Star Wars film out. This seems doomed to a quick VOD and DVD release shortly after its theatrical run. Although, who knows? People could be grateful to have a light comedy in theatres amidst all the self-serious films out there. We’ll see!
Daddy’s Home also stars Thomas Haden Church, Alessandra Ambrosio, Hannibal Buress, and Jamie Denbo.
