Vincent D’Onofrio Talks About Daredevil‘s Kingpin. Filming has started in New York on Marvel’s Daredevil TV series for Netflix, and fans are curious to see how the world of Daredevil is fleshed out. One of Daredevil’s many adversaries, the Kingpin, will make an appearance played by actor Vincent D’Onofrio who spoke with Men’s Journal about playing the mobster.

In Daredevil, Wilson Fish AKA The Kingpin is described as “a powerful businessman whose interests in the future of Hell’s Kitchen will bring him into conflict with the blind attorney Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil.” Vincent D’Onofrio has been known for being in films like Men in Black, Full Metal Jacket, and the lawyer procedural Law & Order: Criminal Intent. After almost three years, Vincent returns to the small screen and so far, he seems to be having a blast with his new role.

Talking with Men’s Journal, Vincent explains his approach to the character on screen even finding inspiration from Frank Miller. “I knew a bit about Wilson Fisk. I had seen the movies. I saw other interpretations. But for this, they really wanted everything to be fresh. They’re operating like they have been doing their movies. I’m finding most of my inspiration for Fisk coming from the old artwork, artists like Frank Miller.”

Vincent also spoke about how Netflix and Marvel is tackling the series, saying that it’s going with a gritty tone. “This Netflix series that we’re filming right now, it’s going to be so amazing to watch. We’re doing these incredible, iconic scenes every single day. I have the best character; I play one of the best characters I’ve read in a long time. I haven’t had this much fun with a role for many years.”

Daredevil, which stars Charlie Cox as the costumed crime fighter, will be released on Netflix in May 2015 with all the 13 episodes.
