DAREDEVIL: Drew Goddard Confirms Contribution to Season Two [Netflix]

Drew Goddard Daredevil

Drew Goddard to Become Involved with Developments on Daredevil’s Second Season. Drew Goddard originally left production of Daredevil in order to focus on the Sinister Six film. But with Sinister Six scrapped, the writer may head back to help shape the Netflix series’ second season.

Drew Goddard was all set to direct The Amazing Spider-Man spin-off film for Sony, losing the opportunity to become showrunner for Daredevil. However, with Sony sharing the rights of the web slinger with Marvel, the screenwriter now has emptied his plate with Sinister Six being delayed indefinitely. Even though he parted ways with Marvel, it looks like Goddard may become involved with Daredevil’s upcoming second season. “I love Marvel, I still work with them,” he told Collider about possibly working with Marvel again. “I was in the writers room of Season 2 a couple weeks ago—it’s going. I think this sort of got portrayed as this sort of animosity, [but] it’s never been the case. They know I love their properties, they’ve been very nice to me, we just keep trying to find the right fit.”

It remains to be seen if the writer would get some work from Marvel, especially since he wasn’t approached to direct the Spider-Man reboot. So how much involvement will Goddard have on Daredevil? Here’s what he had to say:

My job is wonderful which is—I mean my friends are running it, Marco [Ramirez] and Doug [Petrie], and when I say, ‘What do you guys need?’ they say, ‘Come in, talk.’ That’s how it works, I’m still the executive producer. I show up and we talk about Matt Murdock and I say, ‘Do you need any more help?’ and they say, ‘No,’ and then I leave (laughs). I’m always there when they wanna talk about it, because this is what I do in my spare time anyway, sit around and talk about Daredevil. So if it counts as a job, I’m always ready to do it.

It doesn’t look like Goddard will have a huge role, but it’s nice to know that the writers can turn to him for some guidance or input.
