DAREDEVIL & JESSICA JONES: Drew Goddard, Melissa Rosenberg writing Netflix Series

Daredevil Jessica Jones

Drew Goddard will write DaredevilMelissa Rosenberg is writing Jessica Jones for Netflix. The selection of these two writers answers the questions of who would pen the Marvel TV series for Netflix. Drew Goddard and Melissa Rosenberg both have history with Marvel or the properties that they have been assigned.

On Drew Goddard’s history and connection with Marvel:

Goddard previously served as a writer and producer on the hit ABC series “Lost” and “Alias,” as well as a writer on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel.” He wrote this year’s Brad Pitt zombie epic “World War Z,” and directed the horror movie “The Cabin in the Woods,” which he also co-wrote with Marvel maestro Joss Whedon.

Goddard is a self-professed “Daredevil” buff whose interest in the character is well known. “You’re talking to a guy who had quotes from Daredevil painted on his wall while growing up,” Goddard told Collider earlier this year. “Even when I was 18, I still had the blood red door with the, ‘I have shown him that a man without hope is a man without fear.’ That was what I loved and so it’s the sort of thing that if we can find the right project, I would love to do it.”

On Melissa Rosenberg and her connection with Jessica Jones:

Rosenberg, screenwriter for the Twilight films, was tapped years ago to develop AKA Jessica Jones, a drama revolving around the Marvel hero at ABC, but the series never materialized. That was back in 2010, well before Marvel’s TV plans really came together. Rosenberg most recently ran ABC’s Red Widow.

Melissa Rosenberg…was a writer/producer/showrunner on Dexter during the good years (she left after season four) and…wrote all the Twilight films

Drew Goddard is only writing Daredevil at the moment. Melissa Rosenberg is writing and executive producing Jessica Jones.
