Gary Oldman is Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour Trailer

Joe Wright‘s Darkest Hour (2017) movie trailer stars Gary Oldman, Kristin Scott Thomas, Lily James, Stephen Dillane, and Ronald Pickup. Darkest Hour‘s plot synopsis: “A thrilling and inspiring true story begins on the eve of World War II as, within days of becoming Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill (Academy Award nominee Gary Oldman) must face one of his most turbulent and defining trials: exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation. As the unstoppable Nazi forces roll across Western Europe and the threat of invasion is imminent, and with an unprepared public, a skeptical King, and his own party plotting against him, Churchill must withstand his darkest hour, rally a nation, and attempt to change the course of world history.”

Gary Oldman has really transformed Prime Minister Winston Churchill in his new film Darkest Hour. During the speeches and moment of emotion in Darkest Hour, Oldman digs deep and Churchill really comes through. I hope that the rest of the film around him is as good. From the looks of it, it is.

Regarding Oldman’s performance, it will be hard to top John Lithgow‘s portrayal of Winston Churchill in The Crown.

Darkest Hour also stars Ben Mendelsohn, Nicholas Jones, Brian Pettifer, Hannah Steele, Richard Lumsden, Jeremy Child, Philip Martin Brown, and Jordan Waller.

Darkest Hour was written by Anthony McCarten.
