DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW: TV Show Trailer & Talk of Live-Action Legion [The CW]

The Legion of Superheroes

Trailer hijinks for some of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow & speculation on Legion of Superheroes. Along with its built-in draw, for the superhero team-up craving crowd, The CW upcoming series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow also has a time traveling element to it. With talk coming out of the Television Critics Association winter press tour about a live-action Legion of Superheroes appearance, somewhere within the DC TV landscape, I would expect Legends to be as reasonable a place as any. If the source Legion is the legacy of DCU superheroics, then the only logical place for Legends, in the same time-line, would be as a possible bridge redeemer/ inspirational element – but it’s early.

CCO of DC Entertainment, Geoff Johns, on the Legion of Superheroes:

“You’ll see a hint of the Legion on one of our shows… I love the Legion. They’re underused and hopefully we’ll get them out there soon.”

Since my initial impressions of Legends include sentiments like “Justice League appetizer,” and “Smallville-like rush to the League,” it just sort of gels that Johns would say as much. Geoff Johns did introduce members of the Legion to live-action for an episode of Smallville, after all.

Conceptual impressions aside, a new ‘Not Bad’ trailer sets some of the actual tone for the series; and once you get past the bar fight (that’s so clichéd, it’s… a cliché!) does seem to promise some fun with the idea. I mean, it’s not bad. Then again, it might’ve just been the song selection; but watch & decide for yourselves. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow premieres on Thursday, January 21, at 8PM EST on The CW.
