Leslie Uggams Set To Reprise Role As Blind AI In Deadpool 2

Emmy Award-nominated Roots actress Leslie Uggams will return as Blind AI in 20th Century Fox‘s upcoming movie Deadpool 2.

Decades before she played the Merc with a Mouth’s roomate, Uggams rose to prominence as a teen star in both television and music. Before long, she was hosting her own show, The Leslie Uggams Show, on CBS and starring in the aforementioned Roots as Kizzy, the daughter of LeVar Burton’s and John Amos’ Kunta Kinte. More recently, she played Lucious Lyon’s mother in Empire and Vivian in Nurse Jackie. Additionally, Uggams has appeared in a number of roles on stage, including her Tony Award-winning turn as Georgina in Hallelujah, Baby!

Aside from the proposed Deadpool sequel, Uggams will soon be seen in HBO‘s The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, where she will act alongside Oprah Winfrey.

Superherohype, the source of this story, shares the following information about the upcoming Deadpool follow-up:

Deadpool 2 is set to introduce two key characters from the X-Force world, including Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) as Domino, a luck-manipulating mutant, and Cable (Josh Brolin), the time-traveling son of the X-Men’s Cyclops. It’s also been confirmed that both an X-Force movie and a Deadpool 3 are being planned as separate follow-ups to Deadpool 2.

John Wick‘s David Leitch is directing Deadpool 2 from a screenplay by the returning “real heroes here,” screenwriters Reese and Paul Wernick.

When I'm not working towards my certificate in Radio and Television/Video Production at Fullerton College, I enjoy reading (horror, science fiction, and historical/political nonfiction are particular favorites), participating in my school's TV and theatre clubs, attending movie screenings, plays, concerts, and other events, and trying to come up with pithy things to say on social media. Believe it or not, there are occasions where I find time to write for my own leisure.
