Michael Shannon In Talks To Play Cable In Deadpool 2

Academy Award-nominated Revolutionary Road actor Michael Shannon is in the lead to portray time-traveling Marvel character Cable in the much-anticipated Deadpool 2.

As one of the most recognized character actors today, Shannon hardly needs an introduction. In addition to his Oscar-nominated turn as John Givings in Revolutionary Road, the actor received a second nomination for his performance as Detective Bobby Andes in Nocturnal Animals. On top of this, he won a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the ensemble of HBO‘s Boardwalk Empire. If none of these ring a bell with you, then chances are you will remember him as the villainous General Zod in Man of Steel.

While Shannon is definitely a contender for the role of Cable, he is not the only one being considered by 20th Century Fox for the film. David Harbour and reportedly Kyle Chandler are also being eyed for the role.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, the source of this story:

The character Shannon would potentially play, Cable, was co-created by Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld and writer Louise Simonson, and is described as in many ways being the opposite of Deadpool: a man who is a leader and used to being obeyed, who is very controlled but with an aura of simmering violence. In the comics, Cable was from the future and was the adult of Scott Summers, also known as the X-Man Cyclops.
