DEADPOOL (2016): Deadpool Ready for Action in New Official Image

Ryan Reynolds Deadpool

Deadpool Emerges in New Official Still. A month has gone by since Ryan Reynolds and the crew wrapped up filming for the upcoming adaptation of Deadpool. Until then, we have this official still of the Merc with a Mouth in action to contain our excitement before the film releases.

EW debuted the image on their recent San Diego Comic Con issue that features Reynolds suited up as the deadly mutant assassin as he has his pistols in hand after wrecking some damage at a highway. For over a decade, the actor has wanted to bring the character into the big screen with his own solo film and keeping the tone the same like the comics.

X-Men producer Simon Kinberg spoke with the magazine about the film’s graphic nature and just how far the film would cross the lines that no other superhero film would go for. “Deadpool is a hard R,” Kinberg promises. “It’s graphic. Nothing is taboo. You either commit to a truly outrageous boundary-pushing kind of movie or you don’t.”

Debutante director Tim Miller, who worked with David Fincher on the opening credits scene for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, cites a different movie from the director as inspiration for making Deadpool. “I felt Fight Club and Tyler Durden were good corollaries,” he says. “We are in strip clubs and dive bars and crappy apartments and far away from the shiny X-Men world.”

Deadpool also stars T.J. Miller, Morena Baccarin, and Gina Carano. The film is scheduled to open in theaters on February 12, 2016.
