DEADPOOL (2016): Ed Skrein Talks Ajax’s Origin & If He Wears a Costume

Ed Skrein Deadpool Set

Ed Skrein Chats About Ajax’s Background in Deadpool. Ed Skrein will be fighting against Deadpool as arch nemesis Ajax, but will he be the same as in the comics? The Game of Thrones alum gave some more details on the character’s origins and whether we may see him in costume.

Deadpool is really coming together to be one of the most faithful comic adaptations ever, and Ek Skrein intends to keep it like that. The British actor is playing Ajax, an enemy of Wade Wilson and based on what he told Digital Spy, it looks like his character will also be following the comics – at least in basic appearances. However, the film is sticking with his origins, so don’t expect him to where the classic armored costume in the movie.

No, we don’t go too deep into Ajax’s backstory. We mention it, it’s very faithful to the first section of Ajax in the comics, the backstory that we see, the flashbacks in the comics, and so we’re very faithful to that. There’s a second half of Ajax in the comics, where he comes back five years later with this big crazy suit and stuff, and we didn’t touch on that, so this is the early Ajax. We’ve stayed very faithful to that.

Are you guys okay with the direction the film is going for Ajax? Directed by Tim Miller, Deadpool will release in theaters February 12, 2016.
