DIE HARD 5: A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD: Jai Courtney cast as McClane’s Son

Jai Courtney

Jai Courtney cast in A Good Day to Die Hard. Jai Courtney being cast in John Moore‘s A Good Day to Die Hard (2013) answers the question of who will play John McClane (Bruce Willis)’s son Jack McClane in the next Die Hard film. The script to A Good Day to Die Hard was written by Skip Woods.

We previously wrote on the list of actors being considered for the coveted role here: Die Hard 5: Good Day to Die Hard Auditions Son Role.

On Jai Courtney:

Aussie star Courtney played the heroic but tragic, Varro, friend of the lead Spartacus (played by the late Andy Whitfield) in the hit show [Spartacus: Blood and Sand] and will soon be seen trading blows with Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher in Christopher McQuarrie’s One Shot.

The reasoning behind having Jai Courtney being in A Good Day to Die Hard:

Fox is taking a cue from Paramount’s approach to casting Jeremy Renner in Mission: Impossible, and is potentially using this movie to groom a new actor to take over the Die Hard series.

How the search for Jack McClane came to an end:

the search was basically down to two guys after a long search and several shortlists: Courtney and Liam Hemsworth. Courtney is less experienced and probably cheaper.

Will Lucy Gennaro McClane (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), John McClane’s daughter, make an appearance in A Good Day to Die Hard?:

A Good Day to Die Hard forgets all about McClane’s daughter, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Live Free or Die Hard.

A Good Day to Die Hard will be released in US theaters through Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation on February 14, 2013.
